    Javascript not working in IE11

I'm not sure when this started exactly because it seemed to affect only certain sites, then it got progressively worse from there. I have Firefox installed and it is working fine. I first noticed the problem in IE when watching a video on liveleak.com. There's a button at the bottom of the video pages. Clicking on it loads comments. It uses javascript. That stopped working.

About a week later videos on break.com stopped working. They just show up as a black box. At this point I started noticing all the functionality I was missing on other sites, comparing how they worked in Firefox. In fact, registering here was impossible in IE because the reCaptcha didn't show up.

I've checked all settings in IE and everything is correct. I'm the only one that uses this computer. It WAS working and it just stopped. I didn't change anything. I disabled antivirus and firewall. That didn't help.

    I tried regsvr32 jscript.dll and regsvr32 jscript9.dll, which returned correct responses. Didn't help.

I ran sfc /scannow, which did find and correct errors. Didn't help.

I reinstalled IE11, flash, Java, cleared cache, temp files, java cache, everything else I could find that people suggested. No luck

Lacking anything else to try I uninstalled IE11 and every windows update back to July. I know it was working back then. That brought be back to IE8. JavaScript worked fine. I then updated to IE9 with no other windows updates. Again, JavaScript worked fine.

    Next, I installed IE10. JavaScript didn't work.

At this point I'm out of things to try. I have two options. I can start over and reinstall Windows. I really don't want to do that. I could use my free Windows 10 upgrade. I have 10 on a laptop and I could deal with it, but I'd prefer to stick with 7 if I could.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,

    Temp files delete,
    Save it to your desktop,
Then right click it and click on Run this asadministrator and Start the scanner,
Shut your machine down after it finishes if prompted toif not close button,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem.

One more interesting observation - Another website, www.sweetwater.com. Their main page has a menu system, which I assume is all JavaScript. This is one of the sites I noticed I was having trouble. Across the top the menu lists Shop, DealZone, News & Research, Support. As I mouse over those menus appear with other choices. If I stay on Shop and hover down over the menu that is showing, over IOS/iPad>, Recording>, Computer Audio>, etc. other menus should pop up. They don't. They open if I click, but in Firefox (or IE on a working computer) they pop up just by hovering over them.

Odd that the top choices seem to work but the others don't. Not sure if I'm making something out of nothing or not. Kind of grasping at straws at this point.

Please do that at least two more times - reboot between each scan.

Uninstall Java - unless you know for a fact that you need it for something. It is not related to javascript. Java is a security risk. It is a way to get infected. If you need it, then decide if the need is worth the risk. If you don't need it, then why have risk having it installed?

I'll leave you in ThrashZone's capable hands.

    Hi,
Yep Deal Zone... and the top entries in all of the other sections do not have drop downs in either ie10 or Pale moon for me either
But everything that shows ">" does have a drop down list that works so I believe that is normal or at least I'm seeing the same responses :/

I've probably run it about 10 times, rebooting after, not rebooting after, in safe mode, not in safe mode. Every time it says either it found errors and corrected them or it found errors and couldn't correct them.

I've never run it and had it come up clean.

Which Anti Virus/Firewall are you using, its possible that they might change/overide MS IE settings.

Thanks again for all the help.

Torchwood - I am using AVG antivirus and Comodo firewall. At one point in my troubleshooting I had AVG disabled and Comodo completely uninstalled. It did not help.

AVG says it all, its not got a lot of friends around here.
Although you dissabled it, i suspect that only the AV was stopped, not the other components, safesearch, toolbar add-ons etc,

Uninstall it and use MSE, see if that makes a difference
