Add Shortcuts to Chrome's "Apps" Page?

Chrome is my default and most used browser, and I began wondering how I could add shortcuts to the apps page that didn't involve dragging and dropping the bookmark. I tried the tutorial I found on How-To-Geek:

How to Create Custom Chrome Web App Shortcuts For Your Favorite Websites

But when I went to load the unpacked extension, it said that two lines of the manifest.json file weren't valid. I only edited the fields needed, but it wouldn't take it. Any ideas?

easy to do without an extension, this will also give you a shortcut to the page from your taskbar, go to the top menu --> more tools-->add to taskbar and then tick open as window (this means that chrome will treat the shortcut as an app, even displaying it in the apps menu) and there you go, you can get rid of the taskbar shortcut if you want, it will still appear in your apps.
