    Windows Live Mail won't start

I have had abysmal luck with hard drives over the last 10 months. Another one died a couple of weeks ago and the backups didn't give me a working setup. I reinstalled Win7 Ultimate and the hundreds of updates. After I installed Windows Live Mail it was working OK for awhile but suddenly stopped. I tried an earlier System Restore point but that didn't help. I setup another user account and it works fine.

    The message I get is:

"Windows Live Mail could not be started. Unable to update your message databases.

An updated version of Windows Live Mail was successfully installed. However, due to the changes in the program, your existing accounts could not be fully updated. Your existing email and news group messages have been moved to a folder in your inbox called Recovered Folders. Your Windows Live Mail mailbox data is currently being used by another program, such as a virus scanner. Close the program or wait for it to complete its operation, then open Windows Live Mail again. (0x80070005)"

    Another window shows:

"Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed."

I shut down my Eset virus program but that didn't help.

Anyone have any experience with this problem and how did you solve it?

    Thanks

The problem is that Live Mail will not start. Therefore, I cannot get to my properties inside Live Mail. Do you want the properties from the dummy user I set up where Live Mail is working?

    NO
Have you tried a removal & reinstall with your AV & Firewall disabled?

Disabling AV and firewall had no effect. The person who does computer service at work said to delete my user that had the trouble and recreate it. That worked, I didn't even have to download Windows Live Mail again. The only pain was to backup all my docs and other files. Neither backup nor copy would help with almost a thousand files. It took me a few days of spare time to get that done.

    Thanks for offering solutions.
