    IE8 cache files

Slightly confused here, and I am sure this is just a simple setting / config issue.

If I look at the "Temporary Internet File Properties", I currently have 216 files in it, 40 MB. (Just cleaned it).

But....if I access Tools, and "view" the files in the cache, I only see 4 files currently, a couple of cookies and some icons.

So, the files are there, just can't see them.

In Vista, I could easily see all the files, in Win 7, not so much.

    Any ideas?

Cute. It doesn't help in the least, but... cute.

Hiker - I'll check this out when I get back to my Win 7 machines.

If I go rogue, it'll be with Chrome.

I've noticed this behavior too. I believe it has to do with permissions. IE may be running with lower permissions and not displaying all the files. Running Explorer and browsing to the folder will have less restrictions imposed.

I remember reading an MSDN article about UAC and how different programs (in Windows) are catagorized by risk. Wish I could find it again but maybe another member has some info about this?

Hmm, I can see all of mine.

Did you go into Control Panel/Folder Options - View Tab and tick-mark Show hidden files, folders, and drives?

That is fine, I can see hidden folders and files. I only see some of the files, not all of them.

For instance, I saw a movie trailer at http://www.battleforheartsandminds.com and wanted to pull it out of the temp files, and keep it on my desktop as an example of a DSLR video recording. I know it is in my set of files, I just can't see this file.

Got full permissions, still trying to figure it out.

I am not totally sure where exactly you can go to view the files you need, but this little program may help you out. It works a charm. :)

VideoCacheView - Play offline/Save .flv video files from Web browser cache

    Any thoughts from the gurus?

Should be an easy question, but I am at a temporary loss.

    Thx
