Are your temp files here?
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
Did you do an in-place upgrade, or did you do a clean install of 7?

Yes, they are there in that folder, and yes, a clean install. I can open that folder, and I see only a fraction of the files there. For instance, I have been websurfing for part of the day (snowing up here...), and I only see about a dozen items in the Temp Internet File folder. Actually, the only thing I see are Icons, two text documents, and one xml document. That just doesn't make sense.
Just saw a video on a website, and it is not shown on here either. Largest file shown in the open Temp Internet File folder is only 9 KB in size.
Yet, click on Properties on the Temp Internet Folder shows 60 MB and 2,000+ files, 7 subfolders.
Color me confused.
Just realized something. Folder options, view tab, uncheck hide protected operating system files. Copy and paste this into the run dialog
Code:%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
If you have hide protected os files unchecked it should be visible. Even if it isnt, you can goto ...Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files then add a \content.ie5 into the address bar and enter. You just wont see the dub folders.
In IE under Internet Options, Browsing History, Settings: what is your cache size set to for storing temp files?
ok, I may have found it.
C:\Users\Skipmcc\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\old\content.ie5 is there. The "old" part is what has been throwing me.
The only way to bring that up to see it was to move my temp folders somewhere else, which allowed me to look at the folders remaining in the Temp Internet Files structure. Strange.
I do note that my files are not indexed, and that could be an issue as well, maybe not.
Yea, i've a few, but none of them are very bright.
The 'missing' files are prolly in sub-folders of the path be"LOW"
c:\Users\HikerGuy\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\
Why in the heck "Settings" says it stores all of them in...
c:\Users\HikerGuy\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\
and then goes ahead and puts them here
c:\Users\HikerGuy\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\
is beyond me.
Maybe someone has the answer, i certainly don't.
But I hope this at least helped you find your missing files.
Hanging by a 'thread'
