Why can I not uninstall Google Chrome (Chromium)?

On my recently acquired Win 7 Professional PC (HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower) Google Chrome (Chromium0 has appeared on my desktop, since I installed Samsung 'Intelli-Studio'. When I boot up the PC it automatically opens on Chromium even though I set Firefox as the Default Browser. Chromium doesn't appear in the Programs List, so I'm assuming that it was bundled with 'Intelli-studio', which I need in order to be able to upload pictures & videos from my Samsung Camcorder. Would I be right in assuming that I'll have to uninstall and re-install 'Intelli-Studio' in order to remove 'Chromium'? I have the Installation disc which came with my Camcorder about 4 years ago, but have to install programs from the internet, as there are no CD/DVD drives in this computer. I plan to install a CD/DVD writer ASAP, so will then be able to install programs from discs once the drive is fitted.

In a nutshell Mike I think you have installed Chromium as part of the Samsung bundle. Like a lot of programs now they come with a sort of sponsored add on that have tick boxes for those add ons.
For example Adobe always offers a Google bar and another I cannot remember just what and if you do not untick them they will be loaded with the Adobe Falsh again for an example.

Now a good way of preventing this is to download and install a small program called Unchecky see this article
How to Avoid Junkware Offers with Unchecky

I use it on all my machines and it works perfectly.

Now the problem with Chromium not being in the Programs listings is because it is aprt of the Chrome project and not seen as a program as such see this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_(web_browser)

Now where you might find it is in the registry see my pic of my Chrome reg settings (it occurs in both LOCAL MACHINE and CURRENT USER listings) it does not show Chromium but if you open out yours it might.

Let us know what you see.

I've checkedmy (as I understand it) Current User listings, and there is no mention of Google Chrome or Chromium in them. In addition I've uninstalled, then reinstalled Samsung Intelli-Studio, following the instructions on the CD supplied with my Samsung Camcorder, but, when I boot up this computer it still opens on Chrome. Merely a minor irritation as I simply switch to Firefox to browse the web. I've also installed Unchecky, but that doesn't seem to be retrospective, so previously installed 'extras' are still there.

No Unchecky is not retro as you say but handy for future use.

Now in my pic you will see which HKEY's you have to open out to Software and look down the listings for Chrome - open the Google settings as it is in my machine here and Chrome will be there see pics

If not then it maybe another problem because everything that runs on the machine has to have a reg entry - I stand to be corrected of course.

Are you positive you have Chrome set as your default browser ? Check again.

What do you have Chrome or Chromium ?

They are 2 different browsers, and I would not use Chromium anymore.

I used Chromium in the past and thought it was good, but I`ve since stuck with Chrome, never an issue with it.
