If you could say what advice/instructions you were given it would be of some help.

But for now try this if you already haven't already

Go to search, type run, click on run icon, or just press windows+R keys to open run. Type C:\Users\insert your user name here\AppData\Local\Microsoft into run box, click OK. In folder that opens scroll down to windows live mail, right click, select properties then click on Previous Versions tab and select a previous version to when you know folders were not missing, either click restore, or you can copy to elswhere, then select just the folders you want and put them back into WLM.

Actually I was given near enough the same advice/instructions that you gave me but not in the same form in that I was advised to input, “C:\Users\insert your user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft”.

Those who gave me advice assumed I would know how to get to the important bit of:
“Go to search, type run, click on run, or press windows+R keys, type C:\Users\insert your user name\AppData\Local\Microsoft into run box, click OK”.

The problem is that many computer people with knowledge assume a level of theoretical skill that people of my age, 80 do not have. This is not to denigrate elderly people but most people of my age started working with computers late in life and did not accumulate sufficent base skills. I am saying that as someone who served a five year craft apprenticeship base skills.

Using your advice I managed to get far enough tonight to see where I wanted to go but there was one problem in that I found stuff dated 7.11.2015 when I lost the Emails in September. I know that most of the stuff I lost is still on the computer because I have been finding it in bits and pieces. So, if you could tell me what the next step is to go back to September that is if it is possible I will be more than happy and many thanks for your advice.

    Hi BML
Sorry, you can't go back to September if not in list. Try this, go back to mail folder using same way as before, then open Windows Live Mail folder and have a poke about in the storage folders and see if what has been lost is there.

Right, I'm getting there and actually twigged that if I opened those folders that came up with names that I recognised a list of files showed but I was confused by the fact that they did not bear an identifiable name but a series of digits or numerals. I clicked open on one of them and an Email opened which I recognised and I was on my way. There are a number of ways to move them into a folder but I selected a number of the folders and posted them to my Email address and when they got there I opened them and forwarded each one to the folder they belonged to. A tortuous process but it works so thank you very much Seven Guru.

And then when I went to open them the next day they had disappeared.
