Serious delay receiving emails on Windows Live Mail

    Hi,
Until recently everything has been fine with my emails, but in the last couple of weeks I have noticed that my emails are very delayed and in some cases do not receive those I know have been sent to me.
If I go to my server, Madasafish, and my email account, all the emails are there, but open WLM and they just do not appear. Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. The reason I do not use the server email account is that I much prefer the layout etc in WLM.

Possibly dumb questions, but is WLM checking for new mail when it is launched? Do you see it checking at the bottom of the screen? Does nothing show up if you do a manual send/receive? How often is WLM set to check for new mail? I assume you can send mail from WLM without issues? WLM is still set as the default mail handler? Nothing got changed in your e-mail account in WLM? No error messages when trying to do anything in WLM?

    Hi Jamis,
Yes WLM is set to check for mail when launched and every 15 minutes when running, and yes I do see the 'checking for mail' at the bottom of the screen. Manual send & receive tried and nothing happens, mail can be sent without any problems. WLM is the default and as far as I can see there have been no changes in the account. The puzzle is why for no apparent reason half a dozen or more emails will suddenly arrive, some having been sent many hours previously?

This morning logged on and 10 emails arrived, 3 dated the 27th, 6 the 28th and one from today 29th????

That's a real poser. Have you contacted your Internet Service Provider or the folks that are providing the e-mail service? Our ISP changed e-mail providers a year or so ago. They went from doing the e-mail in house and outsourced it to TuCows. There were lots of issues with SPAM, blacklists, and connectivity for several months afterwards. I would cite an e-mail problem to my ISP, they would work with TuCows and get the problem corrected. We use WLM primarily, but use the web mail app occasionally. I still see some discrepancies between the two, like mail deleted by WLM not getting deleted by TuCows immediately.

Thanks, I'll get on to the ISP and see if they have any suggestions, I did have a problem a couple of years back and they were very helpful, but that was a problem with their side of things, not sure if this is as I have a netbook on W7 which is on WLM and the same ISP, no problems with it??????

Ah, another fact! Have you compared the WLM setups between both machines to make sure something isn't the same and thus causing the problem? I once had Windows change a setting in my WLM account and it suddenly stopped connecting with the e-mail server. Somehow the POP3 setting got changed without my input. Good luck with your ISP too. Also, are both WLMs at the same version and build? Do both systems have the same updates installed?

Yes I had checked before that both are set up the same, and both WLMs the same and latest update. I'll get in touch with the ISP in the morning, 21.30 here.

Madasafish being part of Plusnet, and closing 15th December, have you looked at the Plusnet forum Forum - Index | Community Site ? Perhaps there is something there. I do know that in the email section there have been posts about similar diffculties.
