Can't get Google back to listing page

Hello , I am sure glad your site is here , as I rely on it when I have an odd problem. as I have now.

So , I use IE 11 and Google( not Chrome) for my internet searches. Recently , when I type a search into the Google search box a list of sights comes up , all pertaining to my specific search. So far so good , after clicking on it and deciding it's not what I want, I click on the IE back button and I cant get back to the list page to choose another site.

Is their a setting or something I can check to make Google go back to the list page ?

Admin; please feel free to move this post if their is a better category.

    Thanks, M. BArretta

I too use IE11 and I have seen it lose the ability to go back. As a work around, I try to remember to right click on links and select open in new tab or new window. That way, Google's search returns will just stay in the main window.

    Hi:

Or you could use Firefox, which remembers things in Google search when using the "back" button.

You could also try the workaround in Post #4 of this thread:

IE 11 back button not working on windows 7 machine

If you click the small drop-down arrow on the Back button, do you see just an ad server listed? That would be the probable cause.

You can add those sites to the "Restricted Sites" zone using wildcards.

    EDIT:

Also - are you using the latest version of Google Search?

Does the icon that appears when you click the drop down arrow at the end of the address bar look like this? (New Google Logo)

Or does it still show the old dark blue logo with the white letter G ?

What happens if you avoid the back button entirely and instead use "ALT+Left Arrow" to go back a page - or press multiple times to go back multiple pages?

I hover the mouse over a link and click the scroll wheel, that opens the link in a new tab for me.
If i click the scroll wheel on a "Tab Name" that closes the tab.
For me it makes it a little easier and less clicks.
