    No messages in WLM

Hello my partners WLM has gone down tonight and will not load new messages (incoming) . I have tried just about everything I can think of but nothing seems to work.
If I right click on Incoming , Sent and Drafts and select Properties it tells me there are 35 incoming and 125 sent mails - so they are sitting there in the ether.
I even tried to reboot several times as mine sometimes gets stuck in the mud and it clears the problem, and even a system restore but oh dear the system protection was off

Now I know I should not say it but the grand kids play on this machine and I have an idea that some keys have been pushed via not knowing what they are doing - though I cannot prove that.

    Any ideas please

I'm not a WLM user. I did read about upcoming changes that might prevent WLM from working.

See here regarding recent updates: email received is it real or not. - Microsoft Community

Also check this thread for a discussion on the notification email that users received (or did not receive)

Is this legit or a con

Maybe it will give you a clue.

    EDIT:

Here is Brink's post on the subject:

Windows Live Mail 2012 requires an update to keep using it

Also lots of users suggest using Thunderbird instead. Personally I ditched Thunderbird and switched to eMClient.

Who is the email provider(s) such as MS Outlook.com, MS Hotmail, Gmail, etc. ?
Also, what protocol is used such as IMAP, POP3, etc. ?

I have a mix of providers including MS Outlook.com, MS Hotmail, Gmail, and more.
Some of my MS accounts have been converted, and some haven't.
I have all my client email accounts setup using IMAP.

I used WLM 2012 on my test box, but recently switched to Thunderbird portable because of the MS changes/issues for "Outlook.com" email.
So far Thunderbird portable is working for me without issues, and i prefer it.

Can you log into the Email WEB page(s) and see if all the emails are still available there ?
If all email is still available in WEB email, you should be able to test/use a different Email client program.

Sure, blame it on the grand kids. Did they turn off your Restore protection too?
    (just adding a little levity.)
I use WLM pop server and had a prob once but after restoring my system image all emails started
flowing in from my server and the outbox was able to send. This may be of no help to you at all.
Do check your tools/accounts/ servers for correct settings.
    I'm sorry but good luck.

Ok I am off work tomorrow and will have go at some of the suggestions folks - thanks for some ideas.

I only mentioned grand kids because it needs to be said they play game son this machine and while the older ones are ok the young and very young have no idea of what they are pushing - bit like a feeding frenzy at times so I was just thinking maybe the odd and casual depressing of a combo of keys may have thrown this thing out of kilter.

David she uses hotmail for the most part though even her bigpond account still refuses to download the gmail looks to be ok but rarely used - I will try.

Hmm am wondering if the hotmail has been rerouted by Microsoft via an update because we got home and her email is now coming through Outlook via MSN??

Am going to see what Shawns link has in it.

When you log into WEB mail for Hotmail or any MS EMAIL account, look in the upper left corner and what does it display ?
If it shows Outlook Mail (Preview) that account has been converted to the new format.
If it shows Outlook.com that account has NOT been converted to the new format.

KB3093594 should only be installed if you have an outlook.com account that has been upgraded to Outlook Mail (Preview).

I still have a mix of converted/non-converted MS email accounts, so i won't install KB3093594, until MS fixes the problem for all accounts.

I'm still using WLM 2011 (not Outlook) and haven't experience a problem yet that I am aware of. The advice was WLM 2012 needed an update.

The problem FOR ME is some of my MS email accounts have been converted, and some have not.
I was using WLM 2012 and still use MS Office Outlook 2010, so this "conversion" has caused problems FOR ME.

As i understand it, i'm screwed if i install KB3093594, or i don't install the update.
I still have a "mixed bag" of MS email converted accounts and not converted accounts.
I don't know how to force ALL of my MS email accounts to the new format, i'm waiting on MS for this conversion.

My screen print snip below is from Shawn's thread here:

Well I am more confused than ever and it seems to me that M$ has made a monster this Outlook stuff.
I tried the update on her machine and it made no difference and she is still getting mail with Outlook which I suppose is better than nothing

I did check the settings in her updates and they were on auto install so I am guessing they have downloaded and installed just about all the crap imaginable and apart from uninstalling WLM and reinstalling it and see what happens I (we) have no alternative than to run with the Outlook.

It is pretty pathetic that it has come to this nonsense as WLM was such a workable program I just don't see why it needed changing to something that the ordinary consumer (like me) is totally unnecessary.

Being a little cynical/paranoid myself I wonder if this was for M$'s benefit in some ulterior manner - nothing would surprise me after the shenanigans with Windows 10.

Just glad WLM on my machine(s) is still intact.
