    IE11 won't download except in safe-mode

Using Windows 7, I can't get IE11 to download anything except in safe-mode with networking, where everything works fine. Have run multiple virus scans, malware scans, esset scan, and ADW scan, but problem persists. Now I've run Farbar Recovery tool--FRST--scan, but have no idea what to do with the results and certainly don't want to proceed with anything until I have guidance. Not even sure if I should post those results as far as privacy, so will await some guidance. It seems to have found quite a bit of problems.

    Hi,
    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
    Cheers.

Thanks for your help. Forgive my ignorance--do I perform the clean boot, following the directions you linked to, then take the screen shots, once the pc is in clean boot state?

Ok, I realized that was a stupid question...here's screen shots of msconfig after clean boot. One caveat--I repeated the bottom entry when doing the copy, so then it appears as the top entry in the next screen shot. I'm thinking that was probably not a good idea once I saw there was one double entry, but by then I was about done, so sending what I did, since the Services tab was 15 screen shots, and hoping you can use it the way I did it, repeating bottom entry of each screen.
I'm sorry, but I think I messed this up somewhere...hopefully you'll be able to use it.

I also noticed the order of the screenshots changed, but couldn't shuffle them back in order.

    Hi,
Oops you forgot to Check the box to Hide all M$ services on the bottom left of the services window :)

Is M$ security the only one you've ever had ?

    ie settings

    Hi Terry,
    Nothing wrong with those.
What do you have in your Internet option settings
in the advanced settings hit the restore system defaults..

As a check to see if its an IE11 problem, download firefox, USE custom setup DO NOT import IE settings.

Yikes, I actually thought that must be why so many entries, but I really thought I did ck that box for sure!
Was that a step to cut down on the amt info, and can you work with the vast amt I sent, or do I need to do over?
I had AVG for awhile on here, I believe.

As youve got malwarebytes on your comp id run that as another check
But in the dashboard part tick the enable rootkit setting.

Torchwood, at some point I changed security setting to Medium from Medium High, but that made no difference in the problem. I also have enable protected mode checked, but tried unchecking that also and no joy.
Remember, I have no problem downloading anything in Safe Mode w/networking, using IE 11.

Roy (Torchwood) I have malwarebytes set to scan rootkits by default, but am running another scan now as it won't hurt!

Ok,that scan came up clean, including rootkit.
