Getting messages outside of email program

Is there a way to receive emails other than through the regular program. I have Thunderbird and would not have access to a computer if away from home. Any information you can offer will be much appreciated. ec

The webmail version of most mail providers seems the easiest option. If your normal email client is not running it won't delete mails from server and you can view them there directly (and download to your computer when you're back).

This only needs a browser, pretty much any one will work here, even from mobile devices will suffice. Remember you need some device and an internet connection that you can trust your credentials to.
