Waterfox update Profile deleted. I am not positive on this but if it creating new profiles each time it updates, it sounds like it doesn't have write permission.

If you want to still try to use it. Get the take ownership registry file & merge it. Right Click on C:\user\user name folder and click take ownership. I would also do C:\user\All users folder as well.

Okay just installed Cyberfox 47. Method used:

Downloaded standalone installer. Disabled certain security software that could potentially interfere with the install.

Ran the installer and Cyberfox 47 installed straight over the top of the old version (46)

No problems arose. There was no need to restore backed up profile either. Also unsigned addons still work. I only have one unsigned addon.

    RE: Search settings. Look here:

Click drop down arrow to left of search box. If you don't see search box you have to add it via hambureger icon> Customise Cyberfox.

    Sort out your search engines.

For your default search engine visit home page and choose settings.

    It looks alright to me.
The drop down menu's are the same.
With this 47 version only one profile remained.
I had several under the 46 while I'm the only user.
All permissions are activated (full control)
    So it's running fine now.

It could have been done otherwise if had known the cause of the issue.
If I had removed the language pack and used default English the update would have been successful.
However installing the wrong language-pack would have corrupted the program also.
Knowing this now I could have succeeded with the proper langpack-nl@8pecxstudios.com.xpi language-pack.

    See:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/cyb...guage%20Packs/

The Mozilla ones seem to be incompatible?
I installed perhaps also the wrong English language-pack? It's a Mozilla type. langpack-en-GB@firefox.mozilla.org.xpi
So there may be also two identical looking Language-managers who however lead you to different sites. Now it leads to chrome://languagemanager/content/language_Manager.xul

I now installed the langpack-en-GB@8pecxstudios.com.xpi version.

    Thanks for all the tips.

To complete this mission I updated my Laptop also.
But first, as previously written, set Cyberfox to default English.
Removed the Mozilla 46 Dutch language-pack from the profile. (could be done by the language-manager)
There is an addon "profile buttons" which lead you straight to the hidden profile folder.

    Updated to Cyberfox version 47.
Installed the langpack-nl@8pecxstudios.com.xpi (by the proper add-on language-manager. Could be done manual also).

    All without problems.
