how do I email documents by right-clicking them?

Hi, I have Windows 7, 64 bit. I used to be able to right-click on a document and email it to my friend.I would click on 'send to' and my email would open with the document already attached. All I had to do was to start to type my friend's email address. Since then, I have built my own PC. When I now click on 'send to' a message appears to say that there is no associated email address. I am then referred to'default programs' but I do not know what that is. I'd be grateful for any advice.

Click Start, Control Panel, then Default Programs. Click "Set your default programs" and see if the document type is listed.

Hi Havoc. Thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested, but there's nothing there about email. Never mind, I'll just attach the document to the email in the usual way. Thanks again.

    Hi,
It is easiest to open your email service and send as attachment :)
To use right click menus for this you'd have to use Office outlook/ Windows live mail or Thunderbird email programs and add the email account to them.

Hi Thrash zone. Yes, it looks like I'll have to send as attachment. Thanks for your reply.

    Hi laurencewithau,
If you have Download 7-Zip - FileHippo.com on your pc, you can right click your file and select compress and email.

    Hi,
The only possible issue with using 7zip is whom ever you send to might also need 7zip installed ?
