Transfer Outlook 2016 data from old to new laptop?

I currently use Windows Live Mail but have installed Outlook 2016 in Office 365.
I know (I think) how to transfer my messages & contacts from WLM to Outlook.

I have a new 8.1 laptop on which I will also install Outlook 2016.
Is it possible to transfer Outlook data from old to new laptop?

Or would it be easier to install both WLM + Outlook on the new laptop and just do the transfer once on there?

Have a look at these websites to help with your transfers.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/980534

    https://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/...efromoewlm.htm

This last one does cover Outlook Express & Windows Mail, which were Windows XP & Windows Vista email programs respectively. But is does cover Windows live Mail that is a Windows 7 email program as well.

As far as going from the old laptop to the new one this website might help, assuming of course that you have transferred WLM to Outlook on the old computer first & it is working properly.

    Thanks Ranger.
Messages from WLM to Outlook went easily.
Contacts not so, didn't go as instructions implied, had to manually map the from/to transfer, then OK.

I think on the new laptop I will install both WLM and Outlook then do it all the same way.

You are welcome & thanks for getting back. Following the same process that you used on the other computer should work.

I use Outlook 2013 & getting contacts into Outlook from other source is always problematic to say the least.
