SlimJet - most chrome extensions work if installed.
RE: Chrome is/ isn't installed.
Try running this and see what shows up in the list of installed programs.
Download | GeekUninstaller
Also since you deleted C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google directories nothing will find the correct uninstall path:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\<latest_version_numer>\Installer\setup.e xe --uninstall
Suggest trying to install Chrome straight over the top of whatever remnants remain.
Here's a link for Chrome 64bit (all user accounts)
https://www.google.com/chrome/browse...platform=win64
yes it shows inthe list chrome 32bit.
I have installed uninstalled many many times. It does not solve the issue.
Now I notice the my username in c/users has a lock on it (I had already fixed this once before) so am running tweaking.com repair tool to reset permisiions again..will update
Try the download anyway. It should be the standalone offline installer for Chrome (if you've been using the web installer)
RE: Tweaking.com repair permissions. I know nothing about that.
It's probably better to use these two softwares for any appdata related permissions:
Infinite Application Data
When reading that post - read the post above it too.
lock icon still on my username users folder although no files under it show lock.
Tweaking.com file permissions repair did not fix.
Also tried this is safe mode also and I get access denied message
Remove the Lock Icon from a Folder in Windows 7, 8, or 10
I think this may be my problem why chrome does not update
now it's gone but some subfolders have lock. will run tweaking.com tool once more
Post the path to the folder with the lock please.
Examples: C:\Users\Chris\AppData
C:\Users\Chris\
What happens if you type or copy and paste this into Explorer address bar or Start> Run dialog box?
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\
takes me to Pete/AppData/Local/Google
