Well according to Google here's some info of Google Update:
They don't say what breaks it.Chrome’s recovery component tries to repair Google Update in case it is broken.
Try this:
Type: chrome://components
in the address bar and see if you can update anything listed.
You've done everything suggested here: Fix Chrome update problems & failed updates - Chrome Help except "check for malware" - so maybe run some scans. I'm not a malware removal expert. I do not think that lock icon should be showing up on that folder.
Did you try running "junction box" and "link magic" ?
i even did a restore from 20 days back of a ghost backup.
Same!
Am doing full scans with Malwarebytes and Avast which I do weekly in any case BUT..to be sure.
Those update checks in chrome only one updated the others seem stuck with
checking for status...
!!!!!!!!!!!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
no viruses detected. 2 different scans avast and malwarebytes.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is that a full system image backup that restores your windows partition? If so try a router reset (usually there's a button on the back) and also reboot.
Another thought: Try changing DNS just in case there's some corruption.
See the tutorial here: DNS Addressing - How to Change in Windows 7
An easy way to change DNS: Paypal login returns "obsolete cipher suite" error then freezes
Another thought - check your system clock.
Is it accurate or only a few seconds out? Check here: Accurate Time
restored all junctions. rebooted.
same.
I'm going to try ghost again and use my oldest backup...
