    Hmmm.....

Don't feel offended, as i am to say this directly.

Never use 3rd party software to do this type of uninstall on any program & application.

Throw away all these 3rd party by uninstall them, as they may add more issue to your problems.

Google Chrome will work under Windows OS & other OS, as it is written especially for each OS.

The issue is: How do 3rd party software know how Google Chrome works on Windows OS & other OS.

They are not engineering and use only basic rule to uninstall, that is to say, they may use Windows uninstall program to do the work, And at the same time, add more unnecessary other software into your computer.
The rule is: Marketing. That is their profit and to survive in these markets. They are not virus, but...

I have stop using these 3rd party "unknown" software to do the task where Windows can do the job.
Ever since i stop, my Windows OS is stable, as compared to the past with problem keep pop-up every now and then.

    Hmmm...

Is your Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit.
    Use the correct version accordingly.

    Follow this steps.

    1. Go to C:\Windows\Temp --> and delete all files, and if cannot delete then select Skip

    2. Next go to C:\Users\Eric\AppData\Local\Temp <replace Eric to your account-name> delete all files, skip if cannot delete.

    3. Go to Control Panel and select Uninstall Program, and if Google Chrome is there, uninstall it.

    4. Now, go to this link:

    Chrome for Desktop

4.1. This is standalone install. When you are installing, maybe it is best to remove internet connection to avoid past error, ie to avoid installation from the website.

    5. There is one option which indicate if you want to retain your preference, NO --> That is to overwrite all previous setting, which may be quite messy already.

    6. If still unable to work, then repeat from step 1 to 5.

    7. If still unable to work, then there is another workaround method.

    thanks Eric.
I think I have tried most of that.

So did an image backup from 60 days ago.
Now I don't get an error but it just keeps spinning trying to check. Also same thing happens for windows update.
It never finds update just keeps trying

I even tried to do a fresh install last night of Win 7. It gave an error that media driver was not installed and could not complete!
Even if I could fix that I would reinstall Win 7 as painful as that would be with all my programs and settings

There are a few optional updates that need installing to fix windows updates in a certain order. Might require manually downloading and installing.

If you've still got a problem after a system image backup I have to suspect the router. Just reset it and reboot and see what happens.

RE: Fresh install of Windows 7. Windows Updates will not work and it's days of fun trying to patch and update everything so personally I'd avoid going down that route.
