    Live Mail failure

Well my Live Mail finally failed with the common error
    Live Mail failure-live-mail-error.jpg
I can apply the fix described here
Windows Live Mail and Outlook Mail - Microsoft Community
But the calendar error still persists.

Pity I found Live Mail quite convenient. But then why should MS provide convenience to users when Windows 7 should still be functional until 2020.
I've moved across to Thunderbird as my mail client but given Mozilla isn't supporting Thunderbird development anymore who knows how long this is going to last.

Any current feelings on a good/reliable mail client for Windows 7?

Hello mate a common error with mine too especially using a wifi connection.

Now I find the walk about wifi modem resolves that with a reboot and or a machine reboot - yes I know mate a pain in the fundamental region and gets very tediuos.

Now I have Thunderbird set up on my machines now and you can configure it to look like WLM only it is so pretty plus you can switch the default from one to the other . see pic see what you think oh and it is free - I do donate but only a little cos I think it only fair.

Edit sorry mate missed the bit the non support

MJF Mate I have just remembered that new address in the error message where it quotes Delta Sync etc I reset mine to mail.live.com so go into your account > Properties > Server and change it to that and try that out see pic

Thanks John but Windows Live Mail looks a no go for me.
I'm just used to Live Mail and will get used to Thunderbird - it looks ok and may even have some advantages. There are more out there - thought of eM Client but too many people are bagging it.

Well mate it was worth a try as is Rangers suggestion and well Thunderbird like I said isn't as pretty as WLM but there again I have never tried changing the stark black and white GUI of TB but I will have a dig around to see what one can and cannot do.

Edit Mate have a read of this as it looks as if you can do a few things with the GUI

WLM should work if you set up your Outlook/hotmail accounts as IMAP instead of POP3. Create a new account, select Manually configure and these are the IMAP settings for Outlook.

You may have to go to your outlook account and enable IMAP, but I don't think so now.
These settings came from my Live account. You could have different ones than I do, I don't know.

    Essenbe,
My settings are the same. I've been running Live Mail 2011. I installed 2012 and didn't get any joy.
However, I could email to respond after going through this procedure
Windows Live Mail and Outlook Mail - Microsoft Community
but still got a problem connecting to the Windows live calendar service. I don't even know what this implies.

I might try again. But I wonder when MS will totally ditch Live Mail anyway.

It is a known limitation that switching to IMAP will only fix the problems with Mail, the calendar will still be a no-go.

When my WLM stopped working, I switched to Thunderbird. I don't like it quite as much as WLM but it's passable.

Hmm seems to me that Microsoft is at twos and fours with what they are going to do and what not to do so who knows M. Perhaps I ma still a tad paranoid but they push that rotten Outlook to no end plus a few other things that are in the 10 OS too and lets face it most of the rot is down to money/revenue
