Hello hawke mate run these for starters
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker usually accepted as best run for three runs
    and
    Disk Check

    ICIT2L0L,

    Thanks for reply.

I have carried out sfc /scannow on 3 occasions - results on desktop (do you need to see?)

I have carried out Disk Check - don't know what the results were - all finished by the time I went back to PC.

    Original problem still exists.

Question - Could a Windows update have caused the problem? Just a thought.

I suppose a Repair Install would be the last straw - need to speak on a couple of points before I attempt to carry out what seems to be a mammoth task - although it is probably fairly straightforward.

I've been reading that Windows Update KB3185330 breaks it:

    https://productforums.google.com/for...e=forum/chrome

It's not an issue for me as I hardly ever use IE, never use Google Toolbar and set search engine in my other browsers to "Encrypted Google Search"

If you want your search history then you might possibly get it by signing into Google.

No need for reports mate and Callender probably has hit the nail on the head. Updates to me are a wretched nuisance and I never update unless I know exactly what they are intended for and then only if I think they are pertinent to me. Actually I think that the loss of my WLM might be due to one too.

WLM is going to be in it's way out soon I think:

    Callender/ICIT2L0L,

    Thanks again for responses.

I see from updates that I have installed KB3185330.

Do I need to uninstall this update - if so how do I do it? Apologies for having to ask!

Personally I'd leave it installed and wait for a fix - either from Microsoft or Google. I can't see that they'd leave it broken.

If you want to uninstall the update launch an Elevated Command Prompt

In the window that opens type Powershell then press Enter

Wait for the PS prompt to appear.

    Then type:

    wusa /uninstall /kb:3185330

    Press Enter

Yep well it has died on my machines as far as hotmail mails are concerned aand am carrying on with Thunderbird and Outlook though both are not so well laid out or easy on the eye as WLM
