    Opera not showing websites properly

i used opera for 3 years from 2005-2008 then i switch to chrome. make no mistake opera is a great browser it has many features which was not available at that time in IE & firefox, i didnt try chrome before 2008

however many tennis sites simply refused used to work with opera which annoyed me a lot

i dont understand when HTML and javascript is universally standard why did opera has problems with the sites while other browsers didnt

The way your post reads suggest that you are saying that Opera did not work properly way back in 2008! Have you tried the latest version?
Can you post a URL to s site you had trouble with?

sorry i dont remember which websites might be maybe one of them was Access Denied

no i will not use opera now i am comfortable with chrome now

if need arises in future i will try opera

however the question remains answered that why didnt opera work with some times in 2005-2008 even though web standard is the same for all the sites

I see that you have a very slow internet connection and if you were trying to download live tennis then that was probably the reason for the poor reception. To try to solve a problem that you had some 8 to 11 years ago seems a bit of a pointless venture.

no the problem was never live video because i had slow internet so i never tried live video it was other info that i was looking for
like players schedule and draw etc

right now i dont remember exact details

also as i said before i am comfortable with chrome now so no need to switch browsers if need arises i will try opera

however the question remains answered that why didnt opera work with some times in 2005-2008 even though web standard is the same for all the sites as it was simple stuff that i was looking and they work great with other browsers without any problems

also in those days i have only dialup connection and not 2Mbps connection that i have now

As I inferred earlier to stab a guess as to the reason tht Opera did not perform properly some 11 years ago is somewaht futile and achieves nothing! Just one point - Are you sure you were using the up to date version of Opera at the time in question?

Browser compatibility with websites has always been problematic. The HTML and Javascript standards may be universal but the issue is more complex than that.

Just a few of the issues:

Browsers and websites do not always fully or faithfully follow the standards.
Sometimes the standards are not sufficiently precise but open to different interpretations. This can lead to problems.
Even in 2005 there were web technologies beyond HTML and Javascript. There the situation was often even more complex.
Web developers are sometimes pressured into using cutting edge technology where browser support is limited.
Sometimes browsers add non standard features that become sufficiently established that web developers use them. Browsers that do not have these features will experience problems.

Web developers test their websites with the popular browsers of the day to ensure that the site is at least usable. But not all browsers can be tested and those with limited popularity, such as Opera, are left to cope as best they can. Sometimes they do not cope well.

I expect the problem was one of the above or some other issue.
Of course no one can do anymore than guess as to why some unspecified websites did not work with an unspecified version of Opera some 8 to 11 years ago. No doubt the sites in question have changed multiple times since then as has the Opera browser.

I used Opera for some years but left it for Firefox because of compatibility problems. I never liked Chrome.

I use the latest version of Opera & I don't experience any problems at all. Have you installed the latest version & then changed the settings in Settings, found in Opera's Menu.
