Browsers grind to a halt with embedded Youtube videos

Firefox grinds to a halt with embedded Youtube videos • mozillaZine Forums

I have the problem described in that thread, and it is independent of which browser I use; IE11, Firefox, Chrome all stop and take at least a minute to load and become unresponsive until all youtube videos load in a forum thread. I hadn't noticed this issue until yesterday and don't ever remember it being a problem, so it's something on my system.

All drivers are up to date. Does anyone have suggestions on what to check???

    thanks for any help!

    Hi:

Most problems with Firefox originate in the user's profile, rather than in the program itself.
Here are some suggestions for troubleshooting video problems with Firefox:

Fix video and audio playback problems on Firefox for Windows | Firefox Help
Fix common audio and video issues | Firefox Help

Since you report the same issues with both IE and with Firefox, it's likely to be something "global" on your system, such as a hardware issue, missing or outdated plug-ins, security software conflicts, network issues, etc.

This explains how to troubleshoot plug-ins:
Fix common audio and video issues | Firefox Help

Also, it would help if we had more information about your system specs.
This handy little tutorial explains how to provide that info:
System Info - See Your System Specs

    Thanks,
    MM

    Hi,
    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here although now you must use the Go Advanced button to see the paperclip symbol in the reply editor.
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Use resource monitor and the Overview section and see what else is going on.
