Can't type text in browser dialogue boxes

I have recently found that I can't type text into browser dialogue boxes. This occurs in Firefox, Chrome and IE. I have found a suggestion at the following link:

Can't type into some text fields in any browser on Windows 7 - Super User

that this may be due to the file mshtml.dll not being properly registered. I have tried registering (and unregistering) the file using the command regsrv32 /i (or/u) mshtml.dll but I get the following message:

'The module "mshtml.dll was loaded but the entry-point DllUnregisterServer (DllRegisterServer.dll) was not found.

Make sure that mshtml.dll is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.'

I have run syschk (sfc /scannow) to see if some system file is missing, but it shows no problems.

I suspect this may be a registry problem, but have no clue how to fix. Any idea?

The link I copied and pasted didn't translate correctly. It was from superuser.com. Since the suggestions there didn't work for me, it probably isn't that important.

    Welcome to the forum.

Run a System File Check - On a CMD window type sfc /scannow
    Reboot
Run a System File Check again.
    Reboot

Thanks for your suggestion. I had run system check prior to my post and it found no problems. But I followed your suggestion with reboots. Unfortunately got the same result -- no problems. Since then I purchased and ran Reimage software. It appears to have fixed several problems, including this one, so I'm hopeful.
