    New Firefox search problems

I have the latest version of Firefox installed 51.0.1 and I have a major problem with it. I have always used Google as my search engine but Firefox now wants to use Yahoo all the time. Just my opinion but Yahoo is rubbish! I want to set Firefox to use Google as my default search engine but have been unable to do that. I have even went so far as to remove every other search engine other than Google from the drop down box but every time I start Firefox again Yahoo is back along with something called Poweriso Search Engine which I have never heard tell of. How can I set Google as my default search engine on this version of Firefox? I would go as far as to say if I'm going to be forced to use Yahoo I will be moving away from Firefox!

Try doing a friend refresh check add-on and plugin the ISO seems to have hijacked it

Can you explain that a bit more please as I don't understand what you mean? Just popping out to get a few things but I'll check in when I get back. Thanks.

If I had your problem on my systems I would use this free program.

    Malwarebytes | AdwCleaner

I'll probably run Malwarebytes during the night as it takes hours and stops you using the computer for anything else. Might actually download a fresh copy as it seems to have got slower over the years. Not sure if I still have Adwcleaner but if not I'll download and try it first. Thanks.

Malwarebytes is the new owner of AdwCleaner.
AdwCleaner is a small program and it only takes about a minute to download and about 2 to 3 minutes to run.

Another nice tool I use is JRT.

I ran the Adwcleaner but it didn't make any difference I'm afraid. I'll look at that JRT and give it a go later.

Just a further update. I checked again after rebooting and it appears that JRT has actually did the trick so thanks for that. If I can just get Windows Live Mail to show images in emails again I'll be back to normal!

You can search for and add ready made search engines to Firefox here:

Just click the links for the ones you want to add.

Thanks for that but I've now removed all the search engines apart from Google as it's the one I prefer. I'm trying to get Live Mail working properly again now!
