NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID on Iron/Chrome

Hi,
I've bumped into this issue 2 weeks from now and can't get it fixed. Chrome/Iron reports NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID on every SSL-protected website (google,..)
"Your connection is not private

Attackers might be trying to steal your information from play.google.com (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards). NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID"


and IE reports this:


Date/Time is set correctly
IE Settings reset attempted
DNS flushed/renewed
Services reactivated

Any idea how to fix this other than clean reinstall?

The websites may not be using a certificate authority that was considered "trusted" back when the browser you're using was commonplace.

Upgrade your IE version or get a new browser (I recommend Mozilla Firefox), and try again! :)

Odd that Google is reported.

Can you go
Control Panel >> Internet Options >> Advanced >> then Restore (botton right).

try google again,
If it still comes back blocked.

Would suggest you run an AntiVirus (HELL NO on your specs) scan
try eset on line and Malwarebytes (free)

Did you have anything weird happen 2 weeks ago??

This is most certainly an issue with just that installation. Drweb came out clean (thought so). My other systems installed from that same WIM image work fine.
Already tried IE reset, to no avail.

BTW, that system is running Win7 SP1 x64.

I would like to ask are you using any other web browsers? Do they got the same issue?

I have seen this error issued by browsers when the security certificate has been deleted from the certificate store. Typically you would expect similar notification when using an alternative web browser.

Click on the icon adjacent to the address bar to see details about the certificate. Try this with a web page that you are able to access, and again on web pages where you are blocked by the browser. You might find that the problem occurs with only one certificate.

I had this problem when daylight savings time came into effect. I could reset the router and everything would be fine for about an hour but then any website with a certificate would return:


NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID


I checked all my windows settings to make sure my date and time was correct, which all setting was correct so I proceeded to further debug. I brought my laptop in and that was doing the same. But, when I left my premisis the error stopped on my laptop. This lead me to believe it was a router or network issue. I then logged into the router 192.168.1.1, checked the time settings, these were correctly getting the time from the NTP server of my choice. I then noticed below these settings DST wasn't selected so I had to select that as DST had just started. Boom problem fixed.


Hope this helps people, remember it could be any device on your network causing the time to be out of sync, which inturn causes this issue. Remember to check everything for date and time settings and that they're correct.
