How to find bulk jpg's attached to emails?

I've been asked to retrieve a heap of photos from a laptop.

Apparently, quite a few of these are attached to emails.

Will these attachments show up in a blanket search for, say - *.jpg?

Or must I open every email (she's got hundreds) and extract each pic one at a time?

What email program are you asking about. A quick Google search doesn't seem to come with a straightforward solution. Also it does depend on whether the .jpg's are attachments or embedded within the email.

Sometimes the email program will drop all attachments into a folder set up just for that; often in the initial set up the folder can be specified, often it's defaulted for you.

Thanks for your responses, guys. Sorry for the late reply.

The email app is Windows Live Mail. As far as I can see, the only way to save this huge collection of attached pics will be to do each one individually. I think I'll train the owner to do the job - she's retired and has plenty of time.

    Cheers
