Do I need Windows Live Mail

I use Google for my emails etc.
My inbox in Windows Live Mail, which I never use now, keeps filling up with unwanted messages.
Can I safely delete WLMail from my system.

You can uninstall it.

If you don't use it at all, you have no reason to keep it installed at all.
You can just manage your mails in any other client or, at least, in the web interface of GMail.

Just use the normal uninstaller in Control Panel => Programs and characteristics => (find it in the list) => Uninstall. It's just a normal program, it doesn't represents a security menace at all, so don't worry about the "safest" way, the normal one is fine.
