Disable Receive in Windows Live Mail

I am setting up a new Windows 10 computer with Outlook 2016. I will use Roadrunner Time-Warner as an IMAP email account.

My Windows 7 computer uses Windows Live Mail as a POP email account.

I want to be able to go into into Windows Live Mail on my Windows 7 computer to access contacts and emails previously downloaded, but stop it from downloading new emails. How can I do that?

    Thanks, cb

The first thing to do is to notify all your email contacts of your new email address, otherwise they will keep using your old email address.

After a week or two of not receiving any new emails to your Live Mail account, you can close you Live Mail account with Microsoft. MS will still give you 3 months in case there are any late emails, before they actually close the account.

When are completely sure you are not getting any more emails to your old Live Mail account, you can uninstall Windows Live Mail.

This MS website should help with the transfer.

As you will be transferring from one computer to another you will have to make a copy of them, probably to a USB thumb drive, after converting them to a CSV file, then transfer them to your Win 10 computer.

In WLM go to tools> account> properties and uncheck box like in the pic attached.
