    Hi John,
If SURT didn't create a log thats not good, as its the MAJOR fixing tool in W7!!!

As your running a retail version of W7 does your install media include SP1??
    If not
run this tool if it comes back OK i'll supply a W7 SP1, which you can then use to perform a repair or clean install.
(note i cannot source the manifests required to repair your current install)

    I have Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 installed!

I'l run the windows repair tool and let you know if that fixed the problem. Otherwise will re-install windows 7.

Btw, do you know of a software allowing you to reinstall windows 7, but not have to install again the programs in the D drive? Or it's not possible?

    Hi John,
If your D drive is external wont matter, just DO not have it plugged in when you perform an install.
if its a partition then copy them to a USB, or create a system image, most her use macrium, and pull them back in after the install.

    Roy,
D drive is an external separate HD! When reinstalling windows some apps need to be reinstalled in order to work. Is there a solution for this?
