Install Midori browser to Windows 7

I have been looking for an alternative browser to the usual bloated big three: Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

Midori which is, I think, native to Linux has a Windows version. But errors crop up during the install.

I would like a step by step procedure to get this going if possible. Midori FAQ pages and the like are not helpful.

Midori uses something called the Webkit package as its core but I have no idea if Webkit installs with Midori or has to be installed.

Here are two messages from various sources that hint at what to do. The first one involves 'Services' but I don't know where those services are accessed or which ones. Win 7 opens a Services Window with a scad of them and the message is is unclear:

I don't know the right properties list to go to. The other error that pops up has to do with C++:

" This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information."

and is described in that brief thread.

Is there any smooth path to getting this browser installed or to correct the C++ and Webkit errors?

Please advise if there's a better place to get answers on this. I'm out of ideas
on how to do the search.

Solved to get Midori to run.

What I thought of was simply giving the command to start all services. This was something I could look up:

Start > MSCONFIG> Services tab > Start all > Apply

This got Midori going. But for a low use browser it immediately gave a pop up from someplace that
said I needed to register an account. I'll not go further until I understand something about Midori's
'rewrite' of Ad Block.

Any Midori users can respond. I don't know of an official or unofficial Midori forum
to ask the questions-- It might be on Linux. That I have to find out.

Can't help with Midori although I think I tried it ages ago. Just a suggestion - if trying new browsers get the portable versions to test before installing anything.

Okay forget Midori. It hasn't been updated since 2015.

Ran the portable version:

It doesn't work. It looks for a file that wasn't even included in the build.

I don't use any of those. What are you needing from a browser in terms of functionality and plugins?

Perhaps you could say what browser you _do_ use (?) I've sampled a few (or not) below.

Yes, since I'm flying blind with looking for new browsers what might look attractive
lacks updates or something as suggested above.

There should be some IT forum which has current info. Can anyone suggest one?
I've registered at CNET for this purpose but really looking for something reliable and unbiased.

I have made a few other experiments with such as 'Slimbrowser', some variants on Opera
which have too much eye candy, Pale Moon based on Firefox. A couple other things failed to
meet the need of a specialty use browser. That is my goal. What I'll have to do is pick around until
I find the right thing.

Is Trident or Webkit a superior engine on which any of these are built? It seems to be
sort of even. Again, I'm just getting some knowledge about any of it.

Oh, I forgot Commodo (Commodo Ice I think is the browser.) . I will not use any of their products which are too invasive. I had one of those pop up "buddies" that stayed past it's welcome.
You can never get rid of them. I try to keep a good set of backups.

I can't suggest a good browser. Everyone has their own favorites for their own reasons. I've never found one single browser that does everything and does it well.

My usual choices.

Default browser - Cyberfox 64bit AMD Optimized version. Other builds available. The future looks bleak as the developer has announced:

I still use Opera 12.18 Portable (Classic Opera using Presto rendering engine and not Chromium/Blink)
However I run it under "strip my rights" which means that if the browser is compromised somehow by malware it can't make changes to system files.

I also quite like Vivaldi browser though currently don't have it installed.

Chrome - I avoid it. Chrome variants I like are SlimJet and SRWare Iron (both portable)

I also have 2Browse (comes with UVK) but it's a basic browser with focus on security not functionality.

AirFox - I use it on occasion but the tab options are terrible.

PaleMoon Portable, Firefox Portable - I use these when I want to make use of Frigate or Zenmate plugins plus they both use their own separate profile.

There are also times when I sometimes use Avant Portable or Sleipnir Portable.

Believe it or not I also use a few other browsers not mentioned here.

Crimeny that's al lot of browsing. I have not been adventurous at all
until lately.

Perhaps, out of all that list you can say which one provides the easiest and most universal
pass through logins. In other words, the developer does not 'list' any sites on a black list.

Also things like password retention which often gets acrewed up.

Are there any minor browsers that the creative class of pop up developers have
forgotten? I think more and more people are fed up with this sort of "creativity."

I don't know what problem you are having with blacklists. In Cyberfox I use the following to disable:

If you mean other blacklist sources then what are those sources?

As for passwords I never let any browser store them. Important logins (banking. email) stay in my head.

For other stuff I mostly use LastPass browser extension.

For backing up passwords a text file in an encrypted container works.
