Internet Explorer w. DDG as start page, does not show settings link

I have tried all variations of DDG URLs as a start page in IE
    https://start.duckduckgo.com/ ... converts to ... https://start.duckduckgo.com/html/
    https://duckduckgo.com ... converts to ... https://duckduckgo.com/html/
https://duckduckgo.com/search.html?prefill=Search converts to the banner type search page with "Search" as the teaser/prompt in the input field/box

The IE start page is missing these components ...
    settings icon
    twitter icon
    help icon
sales pitch under the search input field/box

... AND results lists "address" URL does not reflect the search results URL

I want to download my DDG settings from the DDG cloud, but without settings link I am stuck

During this frustrating dilemma IE is rejecting URLs like ...
    VirusTotal
    SevenForums.com ... this forum
    Nirsoft
... all highly regarded websites ... plus others I have not retained

I have included all images because (I assume) they might be related ?

One guess is that IE is not completely rendering, to show the DDG components
Or IE is broken ? ... if so how would I fix that ?
IE has been stalling and locking up (the pc is not 2 weeks old yet)

The graphics driver in the Lenovo is dated 2013, might that be a problem ?

I would be very grateful for any help :)

Hmm, interesting. Most of those DDG links display fine on my machine using IE11.

Not sure what changes you made in IE during the two weeks you owned the PC. You can try resetting IE back to its default settings.

Might want to consider if your security software or any IE browser add-ons are causing a conflict.

Try temporarily switching off BitDefender SSL Scanning:

What to do when Security Certificates cannot be verified/installed

You need to do that when your browser isn't actually running.

Remove DDG search plugin and close IE. Then launch IE and re-add DDG from here:

    Also check system clock:

Accurate Time - "it should be accurate to less than one second" but if it's way out of sync - investigate.
