    Is Live Mail Still Safe?

Now that Microsoft is no longer supporting Live Mail, is it still safe? I have been using Thunderbird, both on Windows and Linux, and just tried eM and was very impressed. If LM is not safe anymore, eM would be a great alternative as it looks and works a lot like LM.

Personally, I would stop using LM, but that is just my opinion; why take a chance when there are so many good clients around. As far as Em goes, although, I had it for a while I am now using Thunderbird and GMail. I am very satisfied with both. I stopped using Em, due to the limitations of only 2 free email accounts. Any more than that you will be charged. Personally, I have 3 email accounts. One is used only for friends and those that I could trust not to put me on a spam list. The second is for all my business contacts; cable compay, bank, electric company etc. The third is for those occasions, that I must supply an email to make a purchase online or to get a free offer etc. Just for your information, that 3rd account must receive at least 25 spam emails a day. I review it quickly, now and then, for those good deals that sometimes hit the box.

Thanks Richard. I know what you mean about spam. I am ditching my primary email because of it. My email that I have with my ISP never has spam. It just doesn't get it. Also, they have sworn not to share my activity with anyone, especially relevant now with the recent govt rulings. So I am trusting them and going back to my original email that I have with them, which was with Live Mail as it is desktop.

The 2 address limit shouldn't be a problem, as between my wife and I we could have up to four. And I'm trying to simplify everything at this point in my life. Easier to keep track of as I get older (not that I'm really old yet, but hey it's coming - at least I hope it's coming!).

The more I use eM, the more impressed I am. It looks just like LM, which I always thought was beautiful and intuitive. Leave it to you-know-who to kill a good thing...

The challenge will be to get my wife using it. She is creature of habit. Somehow I have to get her on Linux by2020. Wish me luck!

In investigating further, I discovered that Microsoft has stated that using Windows Live Mail does result in increased security risk. I have therefore installed eM Clinet on my wife's W7 computer. I already have it on mine. In light of the recent ransomeware attack, I'm not taking any chances.
