    Windows says Files are corrupt

    Hi Guys
I have a little problem I hope you can help me with.. Whenever I receive an email with an attachment, when I try to open the attachment I get this message

So I have to D/L attachment even if I have sent it from another of my email addresses and go into file properties and unblock file every time. Its becoming a pain. I read a post on here somewhere about running Malwarebyte, I have done that, nothing showed up.

Is it my brower settings ? Im running the latest Firefox. BTW i have been running Firefox for about 3 months with no problems at all. Then 3 days ago this started to happen... I feel a system restore coming on but thats a last resort.

    Any help very much appreciated.

Hello xldeane mate can you run all of these the sfc often best run for three consecutive runs.
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < if necessary include the /f switch and if this does not make any improvement then just run this switch instead /r in the command line as per Option2
Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs – you can leave out the /r switch in ckdsk if you feel it not necessary

    if no fix then these

    http://www.superantispyware.com/
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If you are running Kaspersky as the main AV then it might need disabling it when trying ADW because it does not like it at times)

Disregard the MBAM if you have done it already.

Now you might not be interested but I am using Cyberfox as a browser it is a makeover of the Mozilla stuff and it maybe worth a try

https://cyberfox.8pecxstudios.com/ you can always uninstall it if it doesn't suit you but i have found it better than any6 of the usual browsers be they Microsoft or Linux origins.

Ok.. I have run file checker in command prompt as administrator 3 times in safe mode. - No issues

I have run chkdsk c: / r 3 times before start up. 44 reparse points and that's all.

I have run super anti spyware, malware bytes no problems ( 2 PUP Driver Assist removed) for some reason PC will not run awdcleaner which is strange.

I have Hitman pro alert running. I have done a full scan with Hitman and Windows Essential

I have not found anything serious, tracking cookies removed..

Is there anything else I can try ??

    Thanks

    Deane

Thats the clue right there.....the Trusted Settings in Excel. Where you find it depends on what version of Office you are using.

    Try this:
View my options and settings in the Trust Center - Office Support

    or this:
Microsoft Excel - This file is corrupted and cannot be opened - YouTube

This isn't a hardware problem, virus problems, or Windows problem - its simple a setting in Excel.

Good luck Deane I think Golden has got you on the right path. Myself I use Libre Office now because I only need the basic stuff and object to Microsoft's annual charges and crap like like that and it really isn't a lot different to Office unless you are doing something real fancy.

Well thats good it's fixed Deane and just a lttle soemthing for you to have a look at.
    USING OPTIMISE TUTORIAL
Just a little something that will make your machine a little faster and more efficient is this Optimize Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums
It is my bible when installing an OS on my machines and also when I am fixing friends and family machines too.
Now if you go through it slowly you will find lots of tweaks and they are all really thoroughly done by the authour Brink a fellow who is in my mind brilliant and if you need to ask questions he is just the most obliging person around.
The other thing is that you may lose some of the "bling" such as transparency (you don't have to I find it unnecessary) and all the tweaks are reversible.
If you do get stuck just post back in that tutorial and you will get help. Another bonus using this tutorial is that it helps you find your way around your machine and Windows 7!
Just one tip I would say you start with is do this Registry - Backup and Restore - Windows 7 Help Forums do this and it will save you a lot of grief if you are ever doing things in the registry and even if you don't it is a good back up to have if your system ever gets corrupted.
