Internet Explorer 8, Win 7 ultimate. Recording Everything I do on PC

Hello, I am skeptical about asking Microsoft about their own Internet Explorer 8

recording everywhere I go on my computer, every file I open appears in the internet

explorer history tab. Call me crazy, whatever. I do not like to use Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, once in a while, once a week, I use IE8 to enter my access code that I

have purchased at the front office. A twelve dollar wifi access code for Cox

Communications, un important, then I close it and use Chrome or Firefox. Sometimes the

access code screen does not show up in Chrome or Firefox, when my week is up. So I open

IE8 and it opens the landing page. I enter my access code, then Google home page opens,

then I exit the browser. I use Chrome or Firefox until the time comes that these two

browsers don't open the landing page, sometimes a couple weeks, some times longer. Yet

when I do open IE8, the history tab shows every file, every picture, every my computer,

every my documents, every where I have been on my PC. Not web pages, unless I go some

where using IE8, then it shows that, obviously. IE8 shows eveything I've opened since the

last time I used it, IE8. True, I can simply delete History, every time. That is not the

issue. I want it to stop Recording every where I go on my PC, Especially since I do not

open it and use it. So, wheather IE8 is open or closed It still displays everything I

have done during that time in the history tab. This is unnerving to me. Please help me

    prevent IE8 from doing this.

Is it a must you use I.E. 8?

I.E. 11 is the most resent. I.E. 8 is very unsafe.

Have you run Windows 7 Updates?

Have you activated Windows 7 Ultimate?

    Hi Katherine,

    I set mine via
Control panel >> internet options .. see screenshot

As Jack mentioned IE8 is a security risk, IE9 and above are offered when service Pack 1 is installed, is it??

not sure why IE is the only usable browser for your Wifi licence landing page unless its your default browser

Okay, in order since I am new to any forums.

Layback Bear-No, I try not to use it at all. No I haven't updated because I try not to use IE at all.Yes, I activated Win7 Ultimate.
torchwood-I will set my IE options like you said and give it a run. Yes it says Service pack 1. System info page. Also, IE is my fallback to open my wifi landing page when the others refuse, sometimes. So, sometimes when they don't open it, I am forced to use IE. Just to clarify. I'm not sure if I was clear. My apologies.
Jack and Roy, thank you for your info on the security risk that IE8 is. I will update to whichever I can. Then set my IE? options to like Roy's screen shot. I will then let you know if that stopped it from following my every move. Again, just for the record, I choose Mozilla and Chrome over IE for all of my browsing. I used Chrome this time to post. Oh, one more thing, I will check to make either one, Chrome or Firefox, my default browser. If that would help. (That info underneath my name is wrong, I am using chrome) I will see and I will let you know.
Thank you very much for your time and intellect. I will get back to this in a couple days.

    Thanks again Jack and Roy.
