Windows 7 Clean Install & Windows Live Mail

Goos afternoon and Happy Christmas to everyone .

I am going to reinstall Windows 7 tomorrow on a friends laptop.
They are currently using Windows Live Mail.
Do I need to do anything special before I do the reinstall?
I am going to copy the Whole User Folder before reinstallation which includes the:
    C:\Users\<userlogin>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail.
The thing is, they do NOT want to use Windows Live Mail after the reinstall but do NOT want to lose any emails.
Will their emails still be there when they login to their account via Hotmail or BTConnect for example?

    Thanks in advance.

You may have to consider installing Outlook.com as WLM was discontinued quite sometime ago. Outlook.com is a free email program that replaces WLM & is supplied by Microsoft. Outlook.com should access those Hotmail emails once you have set it up properly in the new Windows 7 install. If you transfer the data
C:\Users\<userlogin>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail. Outlook should be able utilize that once you have it set up properly.
