    Delay when clicking on links.

Im using the latest Firefox browser 58.0.2 64 bit, Win 7 64 bit. When I click on say a news article the article will appear instantly for half a second then it goes to a white page from 30 to 60 seconds and then the article re-appears? Is there a fix for this?

This may well be a problem caused by the pathetically slow internet speed we have here in Australia.

Where are you located? What FF extensions are your running? Any real time AV or malware app running?
Any of these can affect page loads. FF cache could be a problem as well.

I'm not sure how the exact location would matter, just curious why this question popped up

have u tried disabling CC Cleaner realtime monitoring & checked if you're still facing same issues ?

adblock shouldn't be an issue unless the site is using an anti-adblocker script - this should actually block the entire page though, with their msg (if the site has any)

Ever since I've installed pro version of Bitdefender for me some the pages stop loading, when I open them on a new tab/window in FF only, so when I refresh the page, it works like a charm - apparently BD scans all the links on the page, so something similar might be happening in ur system.

have u tried using another browser as well ? May be Chrome or Opera & check if you're facing the issues over there as well ? If you do, then most probably one of your security related softwares are blocking the page.

I have heard some of them having page loading issues who have slow connection (you can check your connection speed via - https://www.speedtest.net/).
when I had slow connection, I used Opera - there's turbo function in there, it will disable all the videos, flash, gif images from loading - thus making the page load faster.

As far as the cache goes, you can try emptying your cache - as you have cccleaner, you can empty the FF cache through it as well. I usually empty my browsers cache once or twice a month.

@goodlad As noted by another poster - Australia can be slow. I missed seeing the OPer's flag

I was not aware that CCleaner had a real time feature. This could be a factor.

I do not use Security Essentials. If it has a feature to do real time web page loading scanning that could be a factor - especially if CCleaner is doing it as well. Potential conflicts.

I would try toggling them off and on and see if any difference.

Note that the latest versions of FF also do a lot more scanning on page loads. So it could be a function of that as well.

When I have had page load problems in FF, clearing the Cache usually helps.

@redrooster01 - When you say "When I click on say a news article the article" Is this a web site you often go to or does this happen with different wen sites?

I was away from the computer for about a half an hour when I came back IE was still working OK so then I tried FF and thats working now as well! I dont know how that worked but it seems to be fixed?

My computer had downloaded and installed update Net framework 4.7.1 KB4033342 after I tried Internet Explorer the first time. I noticed that it had failed to install the last time it was supposed to update. I dont know if that had anything to do with fixing it but? Anyway, thanks for taking the trouble to help me with this fellas, its appreciated very muchly.
