    IE 11 And .txt files

Internet explorer has suddenly started to open .txt files in the browser instead of giving me a prompt to download them.
I've checked the filetype and .txt files are still setup to open in Notepad.
How can I get it back to prompting me?

I've installed only critical update's, But not sure if any of these could be the cause.

    Just a thought!

Although the filetype and .txt files are still setup to open in Notepad, change it to something else and then change it back to open in Notepad. Make sure that you check the box at the bottom left that says Always use the specified program to open this kind of file and press OK.

    I hope this helps!

Download or open files do not depend at all on the settings of the computer or the browser, but instead on how the page is made. Some websites explicitly tell the browser to offer the file for downloading, others to open directly, and some others just let the browser choose.

The browser (any browser, actually) just does what the page instructs and downloads/shows the file. Other sites may react differently. In any case, that's not something under your control.
