Windows Live Mail keeps asking for my password when sending an email

    Hi,

Since a few days ago, Windows Live Mail (WLM) keeps asking for my password ONLY when I try to send an email. This happens ONLY on Outlook.com/Hotmail/Live/MSN accounts. See error below:

I didn’t change the configuration/account settings. I am using the IMAP protocol, with SMTP port 587 and SSL encryption.

Retrieving email works fine. I am still able to send emails from the Outlook.com Web interface and from my Android phone using an app called TypeApp.

Similar issue on a Hotmail account still running POP3, except it doesn’t even ask for the password, just doesn’t go past authentication.

I do not get any error message/number. Reinstalling/repairing Essentials 2012 doesn’t solve the problem.

    Please help!

    port change?

for me, COX 'forced' a port change for my POP and SMTP accounts - POP 995 / smtp 465, both encrypted, and need to check box for " my outgoing SMTP server requires authentication, radio " use same settings as my incoming mail server.

The incoming mail would load ( pop ) but Mine seem to hang on the SMTP side, and found not all accounts had taken the update. However, it still, occassionally give me that same login popup.

May or may not help. - mine is OH, Microsoft outlook 2003 , on win 7
