Microsoft Edge

Anyone have any opinions on this new browser which Microsoft is using to replace Internet Explorer in Windows 10? Is it available for Windows 7?

MS Edge is supposedly more stable and secure than Internet Explorer (IE). It is a complete re-write of the search engine, so has very little in common with IE. Edge is used as part of Cortana search, and Edge is not available for Windows 7. But that in itself does not make it worth switching to Windows 10.

I think Edge is lighter and faster than IE ever was. But I still got it to crash my computer.

I believe it is solid fact that Microsoft don't intend updating IE anymore.

It's just a fork of the very same IE codebase and then (supposedly) improvements where made upon it. While the graphical aspect is widely different, internally both use the very same Trident engine, so there are many things in common with them. I simply consider it as "IE 12", while technically incorrect it's a good approximation of what it does.

Since it's a Windows 10 tablet program, it cannot run on Windows 7 or anything else than Win10.
