Pesky Windows Security stopping email account logon

Old age and amnesia overwhelmeth. Which means I can't remember the fix for the blasted Windows Security email account logon, where the stupid window pops up asking for User Name and Password with a check box to "Remember my credentials" only. . . it doesn't. You fill in the required fields. But Windows Security continues to repeatedly block logon to that account.

I'm running good ol' Windows Mail on my Win7 pooter. I like Windows Mail. Like it much more than Windows Live Mail, which decided to scatter details of all my email accounts on-screen simultaneously. No thanks. I'm happy with one in-box for all accounts.

I've just added a new gmail account to the POP3 collection in Windows Mail desktop. I've checked with Google that I have full access to the account, after following the info appearing in the Error Screen. No problem there. I've also stopped wlidsvc from running -- Windows Live ID Sign In Assistant -- but no, that's made no difference. The Windows Security obstruction continues on.

I seem to recall, in the dim and distant past, that there was a quick fix for this. I very probably used it. But now, I can't remember it, even though it was a simple straightforward fix to some security setting or other which did not require me to dump Windows Mail in favor of Windows Live Mail (or dump that in favor of Outlook.) Help, therefore, appreciated; thanks.

Apologies . . I seem to have solved it. Gone into Credentials Manager and given it pop.gmail.com and username and password for newly added account. No more pesky security screen.
