I work with Windows-7 en Use Firefox and Chrome as my Browsers
The last times when i startup Chrome, than Chrome starts with refreshing my Desktop-Icons before the Chrome Start-screen appears
Is this normal or do i have to change anything in the Chrome-browser settings?
This does not appear when i use Firefox

Are you using an old version of Chrome?
I only say this because I have an old Vista machine that I use for testing. I can only use the Google version [which is quite old] that was the last supported for the OS that I have. I also on occasions get this sort of initial desktop reset. I have found that although it does this on occasions [not every time], it is only momentarily and has no other effect that is significant.

I have seen this "refresh" in Opera and Vivaldi, also. It happens again when the softwares are updated. I think I have a lot of browser cookies in each. Do you have many cookies in Chrome, and few cookies in Firefox? That might lead to one explanation.

Yes, I have also noticed this when software gets updated. It might be due to the fact that you have requested a desktop icon on installation which re-organises and refreshes the desktop.
Perhaps checking that all the desktop icons are live might be an option. Sometimes when programs get uninstalled/deleted the desktop icon still stays. This obviously means that the OS is looking for the shortcut which now doesn't exist!
I delete the TIF's and Cookies on a daily basis and I still get the issue.

I had updated Chrome to the latest version (70....) a week ago, so there are no updates recently executed
I've got the same problem, but I see the icons on my desktop blinking when I am CLOSING Chrome. Maybe it happens as well when I start the program, but Chrome starts so fast on my machine that I probably just haven't noticed it.
It started after updating to Chrome 70. When I revert to version 69, the problem is gone.

I have also tried a portable version of Chrome and that worked ok, no Refreshing Icons
I work with version: 70.. of Chrome and as you stated you whent back to Version: 69 with no problems
I now also would try that (Back from version 70 to version 69), but can you give me some instructions
how i can go back to a previous version of Chrome?
(Where can i find hat previous version for instance, and can i simple execute that version or should i do anything else?

Here is a link for old versions of Chrome => Old Versions.
I think it is probably best to un-install the version you have first so there are no conflicts. Revo Uninstaller [FREE] is very good as it also scans for leftover items and deletes them as well => Revo Uninstaller.
I would also backup your favourites etc first.

The latest version (of Chrome 69 that is....) is available at:
Chrome 64-bit Installer.
Unfortunately you will have no choice than to uninstall Chrome 70 first, since Chrome won't let you downgrade.
This means, that you will be able to keep some stuff (like favorites etc.) but you will lose a lot of settings that will be returned to default. So if you did a lot of tweaking about how Chrome looks and behaves, it's best to check out all your settings and make notes before you start uninstalling. Otherwise it will be a lot of work to get back to where you want to be.
I make backups of my complete harddisk every other day so I can just go "back in time" as I please....
I have another PC that still has the same problem, but I keep Chrome 70 running on that one. I will keep it up to date, if only to find out when Chrome has solved this problem. (If they care...)

I just checked again, and in my case the icons are also flashing when I start Chrome. I did not notice that earlier, because normally I have Chrome opening in full screen. Funny thing is that when I have started Chrome in normal screen (I mean not in fullscreen) the icon flashing when I close the program is now gone!
I think that this is something that will be fixed in a future update. I would live with it for a while and not go to the trouble of uninstalling.
