IE 11 Blank Page for initial screen

How does one set up IE 11 to open with a blank page? My wife's PC is running the 32 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium (updated 30-45 days after MS updates are announced) but does not use IE 11 as her primary browser. Kaspersky Internet Security is also automatically loaded when the PC boots.

Opening IE causes IE to fail and presents an error message asking if scripts are to be run. If one answers 'no', the PC locks up and stops working. The only way to get out of that situation is to reboot the PC. If one answers 'yes', things get inconsistent. It appears to me that the machine goes into a loop looking for something on MSN and stalls - at least some of the time. Sometimes one gets the message asking if we want to make IE 11 the default browser (which we don't).

Is there some way to get IE 11 to simply open up with a blank page so one can type in a URL of interest?

Thanks, in advance, for advice, comments, guidance, or solutions.

in options > general tab set home page url to "about:blank" (no quotes) and enable the 'Start with home page'.

Hi HenriK37.

If your using another browser, LIKE ME, i would just turn IE11 off
Control Panel >> Programs/features > SELECT (top left) turn on/off Windows features

Then UNCHECK IE11 in the new window.
