Did anyone try to apply Group Policy Objects to Edge on Win7?

Let me explain my dilemma. We have Windows 7 Pro computers at work. (Small business office.) And we're stuck using IE because it supports group policy object restrictions. (Things such as not allowing users to download certain content, ex: executables, change certain settings, and more.) But unfortunately IE is so long in the tooth now. I was really happy to hear that Microsoft will allow new (Chrome-based) Edge to run on Windows 7.

So I'm curious, is it possible to apply the same GPOs that applied to IE to Edge on Win7? And has anyone had any success with Edge on that OS?

The Edge GPO's are located at Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Edge

All GPO's are listed under this node. ie, there are no more sub-folders to navigate. This is GPO under Windows 10.

There is rumour that Edge (Chromium) Dev will have an IE11 compatibility mode ... but only on Enterprise Editions of Windows.

Edge GPO has changed often under Windows 10 Pro. Whether there will be more GPOs in the near future, there is presently very little info, at the moment.

I haven't tried Edge on Windows 7 yet. Maybe someone has to write the tutorial covering GPO options.
