Desperate need of Firefox Master Password help.

    Hi,

This post may not be for this section of the Forum. I looked up & down the list & this looked like the closest. I'm looking for lead I can follow.

Below is an overview of the problem, & below is are questions.

I have the correct password but cant unlock FF 68.01 passwords. I thought of doing doing a sys restore when I noticed that FF had just did an update to 68.01 to 68.02 & i think it was after that update the password I created & worked not won't work. Will the lock out carryover from the original installation or should sys restore fix it?

To add insult to injury, had a problem with my Mozilla password a month ago. Tried to reset it, I even tried to register several times as new user with several different domains, different passwords, different browsers. I even tried Tor with a VPN to no avail.

Will the lock out carryover from the original installation or should a sys restore fix it?

If I uninstall Firefox and reinstall FF, will the lock out carryover from the original installation?

    Regards,

A system restore Is only designed to Replace Operating System Files from Microsoft - so it is unlikely that it would help with Firefox

There may be a way to install another fresh version of firefox though I doubt this would retain your existing Passwords in a usable state, as it would be necessary to completely clean the system of firefox files to perform a complete fresh install

I would suggest uninstalling the newly installed version leaving your profile alone and reinstalling the older version 68.01.
Firefox uninstaller wont touch the profile unless you check the option to uninstall it.

    What is the correct forum?

I looked thru the list of forums and saw nothing that would relate to what I was asking. For some reason,

after 10 yr of participation, my passwords to mozilla.org won't work.

    uninstsl & reinstall FF

    Hi,

Yes I can do that except I have between 400-600 password logins?

Anyone have an idea how long that would take for a non typist up his eyballs solving tech problems with wealth mgmt, esp with what's happening in the US & Global, healthcare, big pharma, Evernote, Mozilla, Amazon, Iphone, big box stores and last but least moving from an aircraft carrier to a leaky row boat with no oars in NJ.

While working on the password lock up, I'm also waiting for m birth certificate to expire. ha ha

Go to the control panel and find Folder Options. In folder options select to show hidden folders.

Now browse to this directory that will contain your Firefox profile.
    Code:
    C:\Users\--insert your current username--\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Backup your profile folder to the desktop.

Now run this as a trial mode.

As always, scan all downloads at Virus Total. I use several of their programs now and they are legit.

I'm sorry for incorrectly describing the FF password problem. I've been working nite & day on this & other problems, my mind became scrambled.

The problem is about RECOVERING Firefox's MASTER PASSWORD.
OPTIONS > Under Privacy & Security: Use a master password.

Set up a MASTER password for FF ver 68.01. Then a few days later I recd a FF update to ver 68.02 from ver 68.01 & installed it. I think it was shortly after updating to FF 68.02 the MASTER password stopped working. Now I can't get into pass-worded Websites. I need to find software to allow me to recover my FF MASTER password.

Is there a solution you or others may know of??

    Regards,

    klxdrt

    Master Password was set.

After update to FF 68.02 got: "Enter your password popup"

I don't know if it's possible. The master password is used to encrypt the other passwords so you may be SOL. This is one reason why I don't trust browsers storing passwords. I use Keepass and backup its database all over. Including to DVD/RW and Blu-ray RE.

I can try looking around for something, but you may end up having to use the password reset link to all your sites. I just hope you didn't also lock yourself out of email.
