I cant download files with firefox

If i try to download a file from firefox, it will save it as a binary file, and split it into two files. I cant open either of these files. I have to use chrome just to download files with. I do not want to use chrome. Please help.

Is it a certain type of file [.exe, .png, etc], or ALL files?

You want to download a file from Firefox or download a file with Firefox?

Did you try to download Firefox installation file and reinstall it over the existent one?

If the downloader is not happy, nobody is happy. I recommend installing IDM/Internet Download Manager, let it run all your browsers. And, set IDM to download binary, I found that setting to be the most stable. Chrome, Firefox, msIE, Opera, etc., all have normally functioning built-in downloaders -- however, it was my choice to just fuss with one downloader, hence the pay-for-once IDM. I think there might be a free IDM, I haven't checked.

you can use Free Download Manager (name of software), other than odd hanging issues at times - never had any issue with downloads. I've used lots of paid download managers in the past, performance of FDM is not bad compared with any paid one out in the market

I can't help you with your problem - as I have never encountered it before but usually I just copy the download link & use download manager - some browsers refuse to download certain files & for files which are larger than 200mb.

In general external download managers speed up downloads compared to the default download manager provided by the browsers.

Are you sure you're not infected?
    Do you have add on(s)?

Try to uninstall Firefox and then install it again.
