Running "mailto:" does not launch a new message window.

    Hi all,

Problem: When running "mailto:" (from the Run box), a new message window fails to launch. Instead, a zillion (looks like about 50) instances of IE spawn one after another.

    Background
    • Thunderbird is my default and only email client.
    • Chrome is default browser. Firefox and IE are also installed.
    • Entering "mailto:" in the address bar of Chrome and Firefox successfully launches a new message composition window.
    • Clicking a web email link also successfully launches a new message window.
    • Entering "mailto:" in the address bar of IE does NOT work -- same symptoms noted above.
    • The MAILTO protocol is missing from the list of protocols in CPanel>Default Progs>Associate a file type...
    • In CPanel>Default Progrs>Set your default programs, I selected Thunderbird and then "Choose defaults for this program", but the MAILTO protocol and other Tbird options are partially selected (grayed) per screenshot below, and the selections cannot be changed.

The only issue I'm having is launching a new message using "mailto:" Everything else seems OK.

    Any help appreciated!

Sorry I'm not seeing what the problem is with my screenshot -- it looks OK on my pc. Does it not appear on your end? Or are you referring to some other file that I should upload?

Twice now, my screenshot has initially appeared, then later is gone, perhaps because I used MS Photo Editor? This time I used Paint, hopefully this will do it (see 1st post).

The mailto: problem was caused by using an old version of Thunderbird.
