    Add Gmail Categories

I don't guess they are called folders in Gmail, but are called Categories?

I need to add a few folders (categories) to my Gmail account. How do I do this?
I went to the Gmail Community, but that was NO help at all.

    Hi huffman,

    Open G-mail
    Left hand panel
    Click More
    Click Create a New Label
    Add category name
    Select the emails
    Apply that label

When I just click on "More", I get something called "Less". When I right click on either "More or Less", I get a list of Tasks and "Create a New Label" is NOT one of them. I tried to caputure the list but that did NOT work.
    Any other ideas?

That is what I have when I click More.
No, not at this time, I'll continue to research.
How did you try to capture list, print screen, snipping tool?
Here's mine with print screen, the paste into paint, then crop.

When you click more and it becomes less
Do you have anything below it as I do?

If you click settings > labels and scroll to bottom of page, is create new label there?

The categories are "intelligent labels" and as far as I know they are only editable by google themselves, they also simply tag the email with the label, they do not move the email from it's original location.

However, you can approximate the automatic addition of specific emails to a set folder/group or whatever they are called this week. To do this create a set of new labels and if you want arrange them into groups and set colours to groups etc, to start this go to the bottom of the left pane and there is an entry Add New Label [you may need to click on More..].

Once you have your folder structure set up as you like / need you need to create a filter that will select just the items you want to store in each of your categories, this is a simple case of finding an email that meets you criteria and then selecting this and at the far right of the options there is a more option, (three vertical dots) from here select "Filter Messages like these " There is then a box which allows you to refine the parameters that select the items such as from address keywords etc, when happy that the search works how you wish, select the Create Filter Button and complete the next page ensuring that you select move the folder you wish to have it located, the options on this screen allow you to mark the item as read, (good for low priority mails to read when you have time, and even delete, which as is a way to have your own personal spam list

This seems a little complex, but once you have Done a couple it's quite easy

Snick, first I brought up the Gmail and went to the left side and clicked on "More" and it brought up a list. I use and old version of PSP that I have had for years and it normally captures very easily. The way I normally capture is to bring up the image that I want to capture and click CTRL+ALT+PrtScr buttons at once. I then go into PSP and bring up the image. In this case when I click on CTRL+ALT+PrtScr the list just disappears and does not show in the captured image.

When I click on MORE, it changes to LESS and there is nothing below that.

Ahhhh I finally was able to create a new label. I don't know how I got there but for NOW I have what I need.

    Thanks for all the responses.

Glad to hear your fingered it out! LOL

When I use PrintScreen, I simply press key.

It is then on the clipboard and can be pasted via mouse or ctrl & v.
