As said "And IE11 is going to be supported in W10 for the foreseeable future."

It may be supported through 10's lifecycle but they are no longer releasing new features. Therefore sites programmed to tell you that it's obsolete will continue to do so. Supporting it is their prerogative.

Correct if M$ make software it should be compatible with any Windows version BILL GATES said that many years ago.
He might or might not have said that but that isn't exactly what's happened. Office 2019 for example is only available for 10. Going further back, to the Bill Gates era, as another example, with Vista only Office XP and later was supported. When they release a new version of Windows they only go back so far with official support of older versions of their other products. It's realistically impossible for all versions of all of their software to be supported on all versions of Windows. They would have to release new updates to the older versions in order to add support which they of course won't do. This isn't just a practice of M$ or even for Windows but of all software products and OS's.

I've been working the "Internet" since it was invented, and bulletin boards before that, with my Commodore 64 and a 300 baud modem.

So I'm more than just A LITTLE BIT familiar with WWW (Internet) communications.

Years ago, I.E. was falling on it's face (arse), and I and thousands of others were forced to use NetScape.
It was slow to load, on the old PC's of the day, but it worked, and would always get me where I needed to go.

Then out of seemingly Nowhere, came the Beta Test version of a new browser from Mozilla, called Firefox.
I jumped on that like a Goose on a Junebug, and I was there on minute one, of day one, when Firefox 1.0 was released. Over one million copies of Firefox were downloaded that day. The rest is just history.

But Firefox is a Browser, not a Search engine. I use a "Secure" search engine called "www.startpage.com", within Firefox. And, I have Firefox set to Automatically download and install updates.
There are setting within Startpage, that will sometimes get reset when Firefox updates, but it's no big deal to go into Startpage's "Settings" and make any needed corrections. That takes almost no time at all, and I've grown used to it.

    Cheers mates,

Everyone has there own preference I'm just posting mine.

On a side note I've just done a format and rebuild its IE8 which I use on my Windows XP. You can't access any site with https only http.

I tried to install IE10 can't because IE is in use which it wasn't.

I had to do another rebuild keeping my exiting folder/files I had already added.

It is IE11 work that one out?

In a format from the CD you close everything so you don't know what files are left behind.

hiberfil.sys which is hidden and system is part of the registry along with C:\Windows\System32 folder.

M$ stop you, it saves people just copying from one computer to another.

I'm sorry, but just what is your question? You have random statements that make no sense. If you are trying to download IE on XP you will need to install a more up to date browser so you can browse Microsoft's website. I recommend Firefox. The latest version for XP is here. Directory Listing: /pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/win32/. Personally, if I where you, I'd stay with that. It's more up to date than IE 11 and is less likely to get error messages that the browser is no longer supported.
