Firefox needs a profile transfer from PC to PC usually donew Mozbackup

Yeah, Firefox sync would indeed be your best bet here as was already mentioned. However, and this is just for me and my very paranoid attitude about things. I don't trust anyone else's cloud storage unless I myself encrypt the data and I myself hold the keys. So in that respect, yes, I do use the cloud, but only for certain things that are meant to be public viewable and for things I encrypt myself on my own malware free, tight ship computer. And the passwords for this encrypted data are well above 25 characters. Unless there's some published flaw or backdoor in a cascade of ciphers comprising of AES 256, Twofish and Blowfish, my stuff could potentially only get brute forced in by the cluster of super computers underground at Fort Mead, Maryland, also known as the NSA. LOL!

At any rate, I could see about making a batch file that will sync the Thunderbird and Firefox profiles or create a Freefilesync backup file for use with Freefilesync. Or you could just go the easy route and use Firefox's sync servive. Not too sure if Thunderbird offers that or not, they may since it's a Mozilla product. Heck of it is, I use Thunderbird so should know this, but like I mentioned, I don't use Mozilla's cloud. Not even for bookmarks. I backup those independently, encrypt the JSON file and store that file all over the place. I also do the same thing to my Keepass password vault's database every time I add a new entry. That database is stored on two sources of optical media, multiple computers, a thumb drive and in the cloud. And since I know how to crack a Keepass database file, I know how to protect it. This is just one reason why it's good to learn how hackers do things so that you can stay one step ahead of being owned and tea bagged.

Pertinent information that may be useful. Doing a search, it appears Thunderbird does not have the same ability.

Okay, since Thunderbird has no sync ability, I can make you a one click batch file that all you do is double click the icon and it will backup the Thunderbird profile folder to a folder on your desktop called Thunderbird Backup. But I forgot the other needed information I need from you besides your computer username. I need you to find your current Thunderbird profile folder. I'm going to show you exactly how to do this step by step.

1) If you don't have it already. Download and install Everything.exe from here: Downloads - voidtools (It can be the installer or portable. If your computer is 64 bit, then you could use 64 bit. If not sure use 32 bit.)

2) Launch Everything.exe and in the search box type in:

key4.db

This file should be unique to only Thunderbird, Firefox and Firefox derivatives.

What you are looking for is the path to the Thunderbird profile folder. It will have a very unique name to it. Something like, agu1v8jy.default. Note the appended .default at the end.

The full path name you'll see displayed in Everything.exe will look something like, C:\Users\lon\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\agu1v8jy.default

Except the agu1v8jy.default part will be different and unique to your Thunderbird profile name. agu1v8jy.default is just an example.

What I need is the agu1v8jy.default part of that Thunderbird path name. When you find this path in Everything.exe, you can simply right click the key4.db file and chose the option "Copy Full Name To Clipboard." Then just paste it here. See my screenshot as an example.

I know this may be a pain, but once I create this batch file it'll just be a one click backup of your entire Thunderbird profile folder for safe keeping and/or transferring Thunderbird profiles between one computer and the next. After I create this backup batch file, I'll show you how to restore it. Unfortunately, that isn't a one click operation. But since you now know how to get to the Thunderbird profile folder via Everything.exe, it shouldn't be too hard to do. Once you do it a few times it's a breeze. I've been doing this with Thunderbird, Firefox and my browser Pale Moon for years and years.

I did the procedure today. I don't know how I'd check anything from PC to PC-- perhaps a new

bookmark just to see if it moved over. Too late for that it'sa done until next time.
