Gmail As DEFAULT Email client in 7?

Ok, so I have Windows 7 and 10 installed on separate drives. Primarily, I use 7 (HATE WINDOWS 10!!) and need to find out how to setup Gmail so that, anytime I need to email something from MS Word or some other app, I don't get that annoying message informing me that I don't have a mail client associated with that function. I've tried to follow the "instructions" that come up, when I Google this. NONE of them work! None PLEASE, if you respond, do so using EVERYDAY ENGLISH, as much as is practical.

Google Mail(Gmail) is a web-based email app which you can access from any computer and from any location and don't need a third-party email client.
All you need to do is go to www.google.com with your browser and then click the "Gmail" link and then log in with your username and password.
It works fine in both Windows 7 and 10.

Thanks for responding, but you're missing my intent. I HAVE Gmail installed and use it everyday. HOWEVER, I WANT for Gmail to be my DEFAULT email client, for Windows 7. When I'm in MS Word or just right click on something and need to EMAIL it to someone, I need for Windows 7 to allow me to seamlessly use GMAIL to accomplish that, instead of receiving an annoying dialogue box message telling me that I don't have a default email client chosen for that purpose.

Well, to answer your question, you cannot use Gmail webmail as an e-mail client, however you can install a web client program, such as Thunderbird, and use that as default, to access your gmail.

Here is how: Make Thunderbird the default Mail Client

And, to be sure you can use your Gmail account within Thunderbird: Configure Gmail in Thunderbird

    Hope that Helps.

If you are referring to a email client you downloaded from the app store on windows 10 you won't be able to use it on Windows 7 since 7 doesn't have the app store or the UI to run it. How to download Microsoft Windows Store apps on Windows 7 - Quora You will either need to install a separate client or configure your browser as suggested.

Gmail is web page that host email, not an email client you install on the computer. You can configure your browser (possibly though extensions) to open the gmail website, but for any other normal program you can either use a real email client (like Outlook or Thunderbird for example) or accept the limitation and open the web yourself.

Nothing of that is exclusive of Gmail. Any web-based email suffers the same thing. Use a real email client to access Gmail instead of the web.

Years ago, most of us, well at least some of us, used Outlook Express as our email client.

It was replaced by 'Windows Mail' in Vista, and will no longer work in Win-7 or 10.

However, little known fact: Windows Mail files from Vista will work just fine in Win -7, (but not in 10)

A great work around without any TechnoMagic, is O.E. Classic (Free email pogram).

It works great for those of us from the Old School, who really loved and miss Outlook Express.

I have it set up so I can do ON-PC email (I hate Web-Mail) on my PC's that run Windows 10.

    Good Luck,
